WHAT IS A NOVENA
Novenas are a traditional form of Catholic prayer.
They are a series of prayers that are recited for 9 consecutive days or even 9 consecutive hours. A novena is offered as a sacrifice to God as a sign of devotion. Not only to Him, but also to His Holy Mother, Our Lady, under her many titles.
During the devotion, the person/people praying the novena ask for a special request or intention.
The Catholic Order of the Knights of da Gama have instituted a perpetual novena requesting peace in Africa, the world in general and for the repose of the souls recently deceased and the sick in our communities.
The KDG make this novena to Our Lady, since She is the patron Saint of our country and we pray to Her as the intercessor between us and God, His Son and the Holy Spirit.
